Janesville firefighters respond to two residential fires in the same day within a mile of each other on the city’s northeast side.  The first call came just after 7:00 a.m. Monday for a fire in a single family home in the 800 block of Matheson Street.  Officials say the residents had evacuated the home before units arrived on scene.  Damage was confined to the rear of the home.  The second call came a little after 5:00 p.m. Monday at an apartment building in the 1600 block of Randall Avenue.  Most residents had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived.  Officials say damage was confined to a single apartment.  No one was reported injured in either fire.
