The Janesville Police Department announces the retirement of a police dog that has searched for evidence and apprehended criminals for 9 years.

Janesville police say they’re bringing in a new K-9 dog this spring. Now, K-9 Grand retires after serving since November 2016.

The police department says paired with Janesville police officer Jason Bier, Grand handled 1,000 searches for drugs, evidence, missing people, and suspects who fled.

Grand’s work has netted hundreds of arrests from searches of school lockers, vehicles and clothing articles.

In retirement, Grand will live with officer Bier and his family.

The Janesville Police Department’s K-9 Division runs completely off donations and community support.
