A Rock County Judge denies a 41-year-old Beloit man’s motion to have his bond reduced in a child abuse case.
Deangelo Evans is charged in Rock County Court with three counts of child abuse – intentionally causing harm, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidating a victim.
According to the criminal complaint, last February, Evans beat and choked a 10-year-old for missing shots at a basketball game. The child also told police that Evans had beat them over the head with a bat and beat him with a stick on other occasions.
Court Commissioner Jack Hoag set Evans’ cash bond at $20,000 on February 5th of 2024. On February 23rd Judge Jeffrey Kuglitsch reduced his bond to $10,000.
Evans filed two more motions to have his bond reduced, in April and September, both of which Judge Kuglitsch denied. The Judge denied a third motion to modify Evans’ bond Thursday morning.
Evans is due back in Rock County court for a calendar call on January 28th.
