The 47-year-old Janesville man accused of relentlessly stalking an ex-girlfriend will remain in the Rock County Jail after a motion to have his bail reduced is denied.

Shawn Ross is charged in Rock County Court with stalking, identity theft, theft of mail, wiretapping, two counts of computer crimes, three counts of placing a GPS without consent, and obstructing an officer.

According to the criminal complaint, Ross put microphones in the victims home and vehicle, put at least three different GPS tracking devices on her vehicle, changed her address at the post office so he received all of her mail, and would park outside her home on a nightly basis.

At the time Ross’ cash bail was set at $500,000 in July, Court Commissioner Jack Hoag said in 30 years he had never seen a stalking case of this magnitude.

In court Thursday prosecutor Verity Altenberger noted that there is significant concern he might kill the victim if he’s released.

Court Commissioner Mason Braunschweig ultimately declined to modify Ross’ bond.
