A community engagement forum Tuesday night gave Janesville residents the opportunity to learn a little more about the Palmer Pool replacement project, while also offering their own feedback.

Parkitecture + Planning representative Blake Theisen says the updated pool design is intended to target people of all ages, and will feature three designated lap lanes that can also be used for general rec play, and that transitions to a zero depth entry ledge in another portion of the pool.

One resident questioned how the potential $5 million cost for the project would impact their taxes, saying citizens should know how much their taxes might go up before getting behind a project.

Janesville city officials said it’s still too early to determine what the impact on residents could be, as they still need to factor in things like final cost and how the city decides to possibly fund the project.

An estimated timeline would have construction start this Fall or Winter, with completion in time for Summer of 2025.
